Our Privacy Mission

We are sensitive to the private nature of the information you, our service providers, partners, end-users and prospective end-user customers provide to us. Our Privacy Policy is designed to maximize your ability to protect your personal, private data while at the same time allowing us to provide you with the best interactive security, home automation and video services possible. This Privacy Policy states our privacy practices for your use of (i) this website and any mobile sites or applications operated by Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) (the “User Interfaces”); and (ii) any combination of products and services we provide or which can be purchased or accessed via any User Interface (the “Services”). Information Collection and Use

Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) collects and stores certain information from or about you that can be used to uniquely contact, identify, or locate you (“Personal Information”). When using the User Interfaces, you may provide us with Personal Information including, but not limited to, your name, home or business address, phone number, email address, payment information, location, or zip code. When you use our Services, you may provide us with certain additional information (e.g., unit description, home or business size, home or business system configuration, sensor names, appliances or other devices monitored by Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.), account information, schedule, mode, automation settings, and device settings) in order for us to personalize your Services. Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) may also receive Personal Information that you have provided to our partners, including emergency contact information and user profile information, to enable Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) to provide our Services.

Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) may collect information regarding your use of the Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) User Interfaces and Services, including but not limited to: performance of any security or other device monitored by Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.), electrical usage or consumption, heating and cooling information, light or other fixture settings, and usage and alert logs. We receive this type of information from your devices that are monitored or controlled by Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) and your computer or other electronic device through which you may access, browse, download, receive, or otherwise use the Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) User Interfaces or Services (each a “Personal Device”), and we may also receive and collect such information from third parties.

Location-based Information

Some features of our Services, such as location-activated arming reminders, thermostat adjustments, vehicle diagnostics, and other location-based Services (collectively, “GeoServices”), use location information. Before GeoServices information can be used, you must first opt-in to activate these Services. If you enable these features, we will automatically collect and store location information from your Personal Device or vehicle you designate which is capable of producing location data (e.g., mobile device, GPS device, or vehicle). This location information may include your current location or places you have recently visited. We also may aggregate this information, but this information will only be used for Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) internal purposes and to provide information requested by you. If you do not wish for us to collect and store this information, do not enable these features.

Video and Audio Data

When you subscribe to Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) video monitoring or video monitoring add-on Services such as the Visual Verification services, use a connected doorbell, camera, image sensor, or other connected device or wearable or subscribe to two-way voice, you may enable us, our service providers, or your Central Station, to record, store, view and process video and/or audio recordings from your monitoring equipment. This may include capturing and sending to you portions of this data as part of a notification or analyzing the data to identify motion or other events. We may process information from your monitoring equipment so that we can send you alerts. In addition, if you have the recording features enabled, we will capture, process and store video and audio data recordings from your device and you may be able to access those recordings.

Data protection and privacy laws in your country may impose certain responsibilities on you and your use of security cameras, connected doorbells and other devices with recording capabilities. You, not Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.), are responsible for ensuring that you comply with any applicable laws. For example, you may need to display a notice that alerts visitors to your home or business that they may be recorded using security cameras and other devices with recording capabilities. Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) takes no responsibility for your compliance with these laws.

Information Sharing

Information Protection

Right to Access, Correct and Delete Personal Information

Customers of Smarter Security Systems Dealers (a division of BSI): Changes to your user profile on the Battikha Security User Interfaces may not automatically change the records of your Battikha Security Dealer. You should contact your Smarter Security Systems Dealer directly to make changes to its records.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We employ “cookie” technology and “web beacons” to help you move faster through the User Interfaces, to help improve the functionality of the User Interfaces, to collect information for advertising of our Services and to optimize your use of our User Interfaces. A cookie is a string of information sent by a User Interface and stored on your hard drive or temporarily in your Personal Device’s memory. A “web beacon” is an electronic image placed in the code of a web page. Our third-party service providers may employ cookies and web beacons to tailor Liberty Security USA’s (a division of BSI.) advertising to your interests, monitor the traffic patterns of users from one Liberty Security page to another or to improve site performance. We also use cookies to identify you on future visits to our site and to other sites. When you access the Liberty Security User Interfaces, we place a cookie on your computer. This allows the user interfaces to recognize you as you navigate through the User Interfaces. At your discretion, Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) may store and access cookies on your Personal Device to allow you to bypass the process of re-entering certain information each time you access the Liberty Security website. You can also delete cookies from your website browser at any time.

We may collect information relating to customer trends and patterns and use cookies and software tools to measure site usage and related information.

We may also permit third parties to place or modify cookies on your Personal Device on our behalf. The third parties can use these “tracking cookies” (also known as “third party cookies”) to determine if you have visited certain pages on our site or other sites and may use tracking cookies to present targeted advertisements to you as you visit other sites. Liberty Security’s Privacy Shield Privacy Notice

Websites and mobile sites to which this Privacy Shield Privacy Notice (“Notice”) applies are United States-based websites and are subject to United States law. Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) is certified under the Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, storage, transfer, use and other processing of consumer, customer, supplier and other Personal Data transferred from the European Union to the United States. Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) also maintains an affirmative commitment to the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework and its principles with respect to Personal Data transferred from Switzerland to the United States, which will not be affected by Liberty Security’s participation in the Privacy Shield.

We do not use Personal Data for purposes incompatible with the purposes for which the information was originally collected without notifying the relevant consumers, customers, suppliers and others of such uses and offering an opportunity to opt-out. Should you opt-out as described above, Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) may not be able to provide you with the services you have requested or access certain features of your system.

In addition, we may disclose Personal Data without offering individuals an opportunity to opt-out (i) if we are required to do so by law or legal process, (ii) to law enforcement authorities or other government officials based on an enforceable government request or as may be required under applicable law, or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity.

Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) also reserves the right to transfer Personal Data in the event that we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, dissolution or liquidation). Should such a sale or transfer occur, Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) will use reasonable efforts to direct the transferee to use Personal Data in a manner that is consistent with this Notice. Following such a sale or transfer, consumers may contact the entity to which Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) transferred their Personal Data with any inquiries concerning the processing of that information.

Accountability for Onward Transfer of Personal Data

We may share Personal Data with service providers we have retained to perform services on our behalf. We require service providers to whom we disclose Personal Data and who are not subject to laws based on the European Union Data Protection Directive or the data protection laws of Canada (i.e., the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws), as applicable, to either (i) subscribe to the Privacy Shield principles or (ii) contractually agree to provide at least the same level of protection for Personal Data as is required by the relevant Privacy Shield principles. If the third party does not comply with its privacy obligations, Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) will take commercially reasonable steps to prevent or stop the use or disclosure of Personal Data. If a third-party service provider providing services on Liberty Security’s behalf processes Personal Data from the EEA in a manner inconsistent with the Privacy Shield Principles, Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) will be liable unless we can prove that we are not responsible for the event giving rise to the damages.

Access to Personal Data

Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) provides consumers, customers, suppliers and others with confirmation of whether or not Liberty Security USA (a division of BSI.) is processing personal data relating to them and reasonable access to Personal Data maintained about them. We also provide a reasonable opportunity to correct, amend or delete that information where it is inaccurate. We may limit or deny access to Personal Data where providing such access is unreasonably burdensome or expensive under the circumstances, or as otherwise permitted by the Privacy Shield principles.
